As part of helping people to think about what different scriptures are saying to them, and to help people get into a regular practice of chatting with God, we're offering a "Daily Scripture & Prayer Time" brochure. Based on the Consultation on Common Text's Daily Lectionary, the brocheur offers a paragraph-long reflection and a quick prayer: this week's document (PDF alert!). If you're willing to share, one of the threads in our Chat Space is open for your thoughts and reflections on the suggested scriptures.

Supporting First United Church Mission

We're looking to support First United Church Mission's "Give a Gift" project, by gathering money donations or $10 Safeway vouchers. There is an ongoing need for socks, underwear, and toiletries: new razors, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorants and combs. Let's do all that we can to help share abundant life!

Meditation/Silent Prayer Circle

Every Thursday, from noon to 1pm, people in the congregation and community are invited to gather in the church for a time of silent sitting meditation or silent prayer. Many of our days can be overwhelmingly busy... this can be a time to stop and be in a place that's built for stopping and being. People are welcome to come for the full hour or any part they can. (If you have an item you would like those praying to focus on, please feel free to e-mail it to us.)

Worship in the style of Taize

St. Andrew is now offering a time of worship in the spirit and music of the community of Taizé. This is a service of meditative prayer and gentle music, inviting the congregation to both reach deep within themselves, as well as reaching towards God and those around them. The service will be in the church sanctuary on Wednesday evenings, beginning at 6:50pm and continuing until 7:30pm. If you find that music (singing yourself, or listening to those around) and quiet are ways that you might be able to be in conversation with God, then this is a worship time for you.
